Special Prayer Request
We are writing this letter to you to ask if you would agree with us in prayer. We need your prayers for all we do every day, but this special request is that you would pray for us and with us for a financial miracle. As you know, this is a time of economic difficulties, but God is able!
We are asking if you would agree with us in prayer for $9,000 extra this month, so that we can pay off our ministry debt. You know we don’t normally write like this – however, many have said that they want to know our needs so that they can pray with us about them. We want to enlist your specific prayers for this specific need.

Continued Ministry
When we are in the States, we are still involved with our Worldwide ministry. We speak at churches and conferences. Fred is constantly working on the Video Bible School – preparing, editing and recording new classes. The Video teaching of the book of Acts will be finished in the next few weeks. This is the English and French version. Next we will add other languages to it.

Paul & Alexander
We went to New York City in June and caught up with two of our graduates from the Bible School in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Paul has a church there and still has the one in Abidjan as well. Alexander has his church in Abidjan and is visiting the USA for 3 months. We went to New York City to visit them and get Pastor Marc at the JFK airport.

Marc from Mali
Pastor Marc and Bintou Coulibaly from Bamako, Mali, came to the USA for a month. They came to visit their daughter Dorcas, who is going to school in Olean. We took them to a number of churches and Fred interpreted Marc’s French to English, four times! We also took them to a new church plant in Hyattsville, MD, to preach for it’s inauguration.

North of Ghana
Aldous, David and Francis are 3 graduates from the Bible School in Accra, Ghana. They have gone to the Muslim, unevangelized, North. We send them money every month so that they can work there. We need to send $1,000 for Aldous to get a motorcycle so he can get around better and get out to the villages where they are planting churches.

Quebec
For years we have been praying for Quebec Canada. Thursday, July 15, we will be taking a team with us to bless and encourage the ministry of our friend, Peter Shannon. He recently planted a church in his town, Saint Julienne, Quebec. Please pray that we are a blessing, an encouragement, that the church grows, and that souls are saved.

Fred and Debby
Fred flies to Africa September 8th. Pastor Charley Elwell, Debby’s dad and our pastor, are going with him. This will be Pastor Charley’s first time in Ghana, Togo, Benin and Mali. They will be teaching at Bible Schools and Leadership Seminars. Debby is taking a team to Palawan, Philippines on November 10.

Writing for Special Prayer
Please pray with us for $9,000 to pay off our debt, $1,000 to buy a motorcycle for Aldous in Ghana, $2,000 in Plane tickets for Fred to go back to Africa and $1,000 for Debby to buy her tickets back to the Philippines.

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU!

We are so privileged to be your missionaries and a channel of God’s Word in the world. We really need your prayers and support! We are writing to say, “THANK YOU.” And to ask you to please continue to keep us in your prayers.

Seeing Sons

One of the special things that characterized this last trip was being with some of our, “sons.” We have been teaching in West Africa for more than 12 years. Every graduation means that the workers are multiplying!! It is a privilege to be with them and hear what they are accomplishing. Daniel came over from Lagos, Nigeria, to be with us. Aldous came from Tamale, Ghana and later we were with him in Tamale. Augustin set up the meetings in Congo for Debby and then we were with him at his conference in Benin. In Obuasi we were with Albert. At the end we saw Antoine and Alphonse from Ivory Coast. A great blessing.

Congo

Debby flew to Brazzaville, Congo. It was a time for flexibility from the extra day layover in Paris to the discovery that the Women’s Conference and the trip to Pointe Noire were canceled. But there were churches and hungry hearts waiting for Debby and Judy Mundy to minister to them. It was a fruitful time.

Benin

We were in 4 cities in Benin. We taught Bible School in Cotonou, the main city of Benin, at the beginning and end of our time there. We drove North to Parakou and then farther North to Banikoara – a central town to the village area of the Baribe people. We had an open-air crusade at night and a Pastor’s Meeting the next morning. Then we came back to Parakou for some churches and then went northeast to Natintingou. We had a Leader’s Conference in the morning and a big church rally in the evening. Then back to Parakou again where we were speakers at pastor Augustin’s Leader’s Conference. Then back South to Cotonou for Bible School, churches and a visit to the Orphanage.

Togo

We were in Lome, Togo, Sunday, for churches and Monday, for live teaching at the Video Bible School.

Ghana

We were in 4 cities in Ghana. We spent the majority of the time in the North in the Tamale area. First we had a graduation of a Video Bible School farther north in Tongo, a village near Bolgatanga. The church was full of people coming to cheer on the graduates.

You cannot believe how excited the Christians are in these areas to have a Video Bible School to help train workers. The students work hard and sacrifice to attend the classes, pass the course and get their diploma. Afterwards their pastor can send them to plant a church farther out into the villages where there has never been a church. We have many places that are asking to have a Video Bible School. Please pray with us for the finances, wisdom and workers so that we can make, send and start more schools in more places so that more workers can be trained and sent out.

When we came south to Kumasi we were able to go to the nearby town of Obouasi and visit Albert at the church he leads.

Back in Accra we were able to see and minister with our friends again. We also preached at an open-air crusade and saw 2 of our graduates from Abidjan, Alphonse and Antoine.

Many Open Doors

PRAY with us about the openings we have in Central Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and Asia. We want to move with God.

In June we plan to be in New York City with one of our African graduates who has started a church there.

We are excited to go to Quebec, Canada, in July, to help a friend with a church he recently planted there.

Debby is off to Brazzaville, Congo, on February 5th. Our friend, Judy Mundy, will meet up with her in New York and then the two will fly on to Paris and Africa. We are flying Augustin from Benin over to Congo to translate for them. They will arrive early Sunday and be right off to minister. They have ladies meetings in the mornings starting Monday, and revival meetings for everyone each night. The next weekend they all fly to Pointe-Noire and then they will do the same meetings there. They will fly back to Brazzaville the next week. Afterward Judy Mundy will fly back to Florida. Debby and Augustin will fly to Cotonou, Benin on the 18th, where we will all meet up.

Benin

Fred and Marie-Louise fly to Accra, Ghana on February 17th with Bill Hoffman. We arrive on the morning of the 18th and will go straight to the border, cross Togo and go to Cotonou, the main city of Benin.

We will visit churches and the orphanage in the Cotonou area through March 2. Fred teaches Hermeneutics at “Source of Life” Bible School, February 22-26. February 26-28 will be Graduation of the Video Bible School of Pastor Mathias.

March 2nd we go 7 hours North to Parakou. From there we will make an overnight trip to the village of Banikoara and the Baribe people. We have wanted to visit this remote village and church for some time. After Sunday service in Parakou, on the 7th we will go to Natintingou. Debby will do evening “Revival” meetings for everyone and mornings will be Leader’s Seminar. Back in Parakou, March 12-14, we will be teaching at the Church Seminar of Pastor Augustin.

Later on Sunday the 14th, we will go back to Cotonou. Debby will teach the book of Judges, March 15-19th. On the 20th we have graduation for that Bible School, called “Source of Life.”

Togo

Ghana

We will get to Accra on Wednesday the 24th and on Thursday we head North to Tamale. Tonga (a village near to Bolgatanga) will have Graduation of their Video Bible School, so we will travel the 2 hours North of Tamale for that while others visit some villages. Fred will teach at the Bible School in Tamale.

April 4th – Easter services and 5th we head South to Accra.

April 6-16 – Back to Accra and Bible Schools, Open Air Crusade and much more.

We are Thankful and Grateful! First of all we are grateful for Jesus coming to this world and dying for us. Second of all, we are thankful for you and your partnership with us in this Gospel work. We pray God will bless you abundantly!

2 Corinthians 1:11 “as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.”

2009 has been a year with struggles for all of us. We know that all of the fruit that we’ve seen in this past year is a result of God’s blessings and prayer. We are so thankful that you have been faithfully praying for us and have not forgotten us, nor the work. God has answered all of our prayers and now we can all give Him thanks together.

Please take a moment to read the brief report of Debby’s work in the Philippines and Fred’s ministry in West Africa, on the following pages.

Plans for 2010

New Doors Open – Central Africa

We had plans for Debby to speak at a Ladies’ Conference in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, but because that area is unstable at this time, it was changed and Debby was asked to speak in Brazzaville, Congo, in Central Africa. Pastor Augustin, who calls us Mom and Dad, went there to open a Video Bible School for us. He called from Brazzaville to say that now it will be a full Leader’s Seminar the second week of February. Please pray with us about this. This will require extra plane tickets for us and also a ticket for Augustin. Our friend, Judy Mundy, will also be traveling with us.

Benin

A few years back, Fred went to Natintingou, located in the far North of Benin. He promised to come back and have a seminar there. Fred has scheduled it for March 7-10. Please pray for this seminar and expenses. We have cut back on most seminars because of the costs – meeting hall, PA, food and transportation for the leaders who come from outside the town, etc.

We will also be teaching at “Source of Life” Bible School in Cotonou and speaking at a conference in Parakou.

Ghana

We will also be back in Ghana again this year. We will be in Accra, Tamale, Tanga and some villages in the North.

Togo

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOU LOVE, PRAYERS AND SUPPORT!

We have only ministered in Lome and Vogon in Togo up to this point. This year in Togo, we hope to go to the North, where it is more Muslim and unevangelized. There are two cities we hope to visit – Atakpama and Kara. We want to see what God may develop with us there. Please pray with us about these cities also.

Fred’s Africa Report

Ghana

Fred began his fall African ministry in Ghana, accompanied by his brother Robert. On the way to Tamale, Robert stepped into a large open sewer ditch. His leg was okay but he badly injured his foot.

The graduation at Tamale was a great success. The church was packed, with people standing outside. The platform was full of pastors. Everyone was happy to see these 15 faithful men receive their diplomas.

A few days later we went to the Bolgatanga region. People in the village of Tanga, wanted a Video Bible School in their village. David and Francis have moved there and they now have the Video Bible School going.

Togo

Fred only had one Sunday to spare in Lome, Togo. But it was good to see and be with our friend, Bishop Gake, and his church. Bishop Gake traveled with Fred to Cotonou, Benin, to attend the seminar there.

Benin

Fred spoke at 4 seminars in Benin with Frank Parrish of World Map. We also handed out materials to the church leaders. These seminars were in 4 cities, Cotonou and Porto Novo, in the South, Parakou in the middle of the country, and Natintingou in the North. All the seminars had more leaders desiring to attend than places for them to sit. Our friend, Pastor Nazaire, is now the president of the largest association of pastors in Benin. He has worked hard bringing unity among the 5 different groups of Pastors. These seminars brought them all together – a miraculous unity – a great answer to so many prayers!

Mali

Fred passed through Burkina Faso, in between Benin and Mali and spent the weekend preaching in Ouagadougou. Bill Chapel flew in to meet Fred there. On the way to Mali, the car rolled on to Fred’s foot – but, miraculously, his foot was fine when the car moved ahead and off from it.

There were 2 seminars in Mali with Fred and Frank Parrish of World Map. The first was in the town of Koutiala and the second in the city of Bamako. They also experienced incredible unity at the seminars in Mali as well – thanks for Praying. After the seminars, Fred taught at the Bible School in Bamako. Then on Saturday they had Graduation.

Senegal

Fred and Bill flew on to Dakar, Senegal. We have not been in Senegal for a few years because of the death of Pastor Michel’s wife and because he moved to Belgium. It was so good to see old friends and be in the church there again.

Debby’s Philippines Report

Debby’s trip to Palawan, Philippines was, like always, very eventful and fruitful. Her team included her dad, Charley Elwell, Christine Dunk, Becca Carella, Josh Lehman, and 2 nieces, Angie Creed and Hannah Davis. They were with Bishop Jun Virgonte and traveled to various churches in Palawan. They arrived on a Friday afternoon and Pastor Jun had a graduation for Charley to attend the very first morning before they even left Manila. That afternoon they flew to Palawan and continued with their whirlwind trip. They traveled to 19 locations and spoke and sang at over 30 meetings. They held some one-day Pastor’s Conferences and visited many rural churches. To say they were busy would be an understatement.

Pastor’s Wife Declared, “God is Good”

One of the most memorable meetings was near the end of the trip where Debby spoke about forgiveness. Before the service they were introduced to a young woman who had been stabbed 32 times. She was sleeping in the home of her employer, when his son (who was crazed by drugs) entered and stabbed her in her sleep. The young woman showed everyone her scars that still looked red and angry. During the service she responded to the Lord. Sitting on the floor she cried and cried while Angelina held her. Afterwards she said that God helped her forgive her attacker and that she felt free from the pain that had been in her heart since the attack.

Part way through the trip they spent time with a tribal pastor and his wife who had been kicked out of their house and church. Remarkably during that evening’s meeting the pastor’s wife freely worshiped the Lord, declaring, “God is good. God is good.” She had lost everything and yet she could say that God is good.

On the last day that they flew from Manila to Chicago, Pastor Jun said he had one more service for them to go and minister at. So on the way to the airport to check in their luggage they were taken to the customs office at the airport. This was not a church but a regular gathering of customs workers directed by the head customs official in Manila. There were not many people in the meeting however it was a privilege to pray for the nation of the Philippines and declare a final blessing on that nation. It was a unique way to finish a mission trip

Every time I (Debby) travel to Palawan, I am inspired by the intensity of the worship services in the villages. People who have so little are so happy. They are always very grateful for our visits and often thank us with tears. It is a joy to experience God with these wonderful people. They are indeed some of the happiest people in the world. Thank you so much for your support of finances and prayers that make these trips possible.

Thank You So Much for Praying

We really appreciate your prayers.

Please pray for our travels and health as well as those who travel with us.

Please pray for financial provisions for us and the work in Africa and the Philippines.

Thank you so much for your continued financial support in these difficult times.

May God Bless You Abundantly!

The Bible School in Abidjan, Ivory Coast was a 2-year school. We had three graduations, 2000, 2002 and 2004. We had students from Ivory Coast as well as a number of other countries in West Africa as well as Central Africa. Those students and graduates are now involved in all kinds of works in Africa. Some have moved out and live in France, England and other places in Europe. A couple of our former students are now in the U.S. and one in Canada.

Four of our graduates in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, have been running a Video Bible School there. They are Essua, Mambo, Alphonse, and Amos. They had their first graduation in April of this year.

Please pray for Fred and the 4 WorldMap Leader’s Conferences in Benin and the 2 in Mali.

Pray for the Bible Schools and Video Bible Schools – that the students will grow in God and be good leaders. Pray for the graduates to fulfill the plan of God in their lives

Pray that we would be an encouragement to all those who are discouraged in their labors for Christ.

High Blood Pressure – This seems to be a big problem in West Africa. Please continue to pray for Pastor George in Cotonou, Benin. His uncontrollable Blood Pressure has caused him a number of strokes and paralysis. He is currently disabled at home and not able to be a pastor.

Please pray for the wife of Pastor John Gake in Lome, Togo. Last December she had a stroke from high blood pressure. Please pray for her total healing from paralysis.

Thank you so much for your continued support in these difficult times. May God Bless you abundantly!

We had a blessed and fruitful trip to Africa once again. I know that is what we normally tell you – but it is true. Even though we’ve been working in Africa for more than 12 years, it doesn’t get old. On this trip we had some particularly powerful reports.

We had a blessed and fruitful trip to Africa once again. I know that is what we normally tell you – but it is true. Even though we’ve been working in Africa for more than 12 years, it doesn’t get old. On this trip we had some particularly powerful reports.

Lots of Travel – Highlights Of The Trip

2) Tamale, Ghana – Placed Aldous and Francis, started Video Bible School with “live” teaching.

3) Cotonou, Benin – Fred taught at Pastor Nazaire’s Bible School.

5) Lome, Togo – Debby had a Women’s Conference, Fred taught “live” at a Video Bible School and a Wedding.

6) Vogonville, Togo – Leader’s Conference.

10) Tamale, Ghana – “Live” teaching at the Video School, Church meetings and Village ministry.

11) Takoradi, Ghana – Easter program with Pastor Charles.

12) Return to Accra, Ghana.
We also distributed 10 new Video Bible Schools.

AFRICAN TESTIMONIES

Tamale, Ghana

After graduation from the Bible School in Accra, Aldous asked to plant a church, a Video Bible School and to reach out to the unreached villages in Tamale. Two brothers Francis and David are there with him in this great work.

We have had a number of students in Africa become church planters. But this is the first one that we have been so closely involved with. We were there with them in February and in March. We helped them rent a place, bought bicycles for them and gave equipment to them.

Aldous wrote about Fred, “I always thank God for his life. He’s always been a father, a mentor and a role model to me. He has really brought a lot of transformation into my life and my colleagues in Accra as well.”

Aldous just wrote, “We went to the villages last Sunday from 4:00 pm and we had a wonderful time with them. We had 18 people in the second village and 30 people in the first village. We will be going there tonight as well and we are believing God for great signs to follow us.”

He needs a motorcycle immediately for the village work he is doing. It would be about $1,000 for the bike, helmet and license. Please pray with us for God’s supply for this need.

The student that comes the farthest distance to the Video Bible School, his bicycle broke down. It was beyond repair. Sometimes he came by foot. We helped him buy a new bicycle and he is in class faithfully once again. He sends thanks to you all for helping him.

Vogon, Togo – Pastor Randy & Brigitte

Fred & Debby returned to Vogon in Togo for a Leader’s Conference again this year.

Pastor Randy wrote, “… your coming to Vogon has been a blessing to us so much and I can testify that I have applied it to my ministry and we’re moving in Jesus’ name.”

Parakou, Benin – Pastor Augustin

Pastor Augustin wrote, “Dear Dad and Mama, We are always grateful for all that you are and you will still be for our family and the francophone work.”

He has recently planted a new church in Natitingou. He also has an outreach to the University. We were able to be a part of open-air ministry at the University. He just wrote to say, “…last Sunday we where on the campus for (video) projection and 115 students gave their lives to Christ, Praise the Lord!” He has a couple of Video Bible Schools with us, and we just gave him a couple of more. He is doing a great work.

Kotiala, Mali – Pastor Soumano

Pastor Soumano from Kotiala, Mali, wrote, “From my church members and others Christians are happy to receive the bible school by video. The 2 first years it was only my church, but in this 2009, God open the door to others youth of other denominations in my city. They (are) going on with the different lessons. The video bible school is helping so much my church to be strong. Now twice by week with an additional video projector we are going to have with us more persons to watch the school.”

We gave him a second Video Bible School. During the Easter vacation, he played the video classes all day because the university students wanted to be able to see all of them before resuming their classes. Incredible!

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

We have been trying to arrange with our friends in Burkina for Debby to be their National Women’s Conference speaker for many years. This year it finally worked out. It was a large crowd of women. Debby spoke in English, then our friend, Pastor Zachee, translated it into French and then it was translated into 5 tribal languages for all to hear.

Praise Reports – Answered Prayers

Solomon – we have been praying for this brother who was falsely imprisoned in Benin. We are glad to say that he has finally been released. Pray for him – he has some nerve damage to his one leg and has some problem walking now. Lawson’s Wife – Mission to Nations Church in Accra, Ghana, is where we have had a Bible School. Lawson is one of the young pastors that graduated last fall. After Graduation he asked for prayer for his wife who was having a problem with her ear and loosing her hearing. I was shocked when I saw the large lump on her skull behind her ear. I am glad to report to you that she is entirely healed! The lump is gone and she is hearing perfectly.

Prayer Requests
High Blood Pressure – This seems to be a big problem in West Africa. Please continue to pray for Pastor George in Cotonou, Benin. His uncontrollable Blood Pressure has caused him a number of strokes and paralysis. He is currently disabled at home and not able to be a pastor.

We have worked with Pastor John Gake in Lome, Togo, for a number of years. We have a Video bible School at his church and have done a number of conferences with him. Last December his wife had a stroke from high blood pressure. Please pray for her total healing from paralysis.

We have been praying for years for our former interpreter in Abidjan, Dieudonne. We were saddened to hear that he passed on in February in Togo. He is healed and in heaven with Jesus now. Thank you for all the prays for him. Another very common prayer request is for infertility. Like in Bible times, in West Africa it is a disgrace for a woman not to get pregnant within a few years of marriage. Pastor Zachee would like us all to pray for his wife to get pregnant. She has had tests and treatments, all to no avail. Also pray for the wife of Pastor Augustin. When she does get pregnant, she has not been able to carry the baby to term. Please pray for both of these pastoral couples.

Thank you so much for your continued support in these troubled times. May God Bless you abundantly!

REPORT FROM FALL, 2005
Thank you so much for making 2005 the greatest year of ministry ever! The ministry this fall has been very fruit-ful. Many people would not have been touched, taught the Word, nor encouraged – if it had not been for your prayers and support. May God bless you and reward you.

Debby’s Ministry This Fall
Debby ministered in the Philippines with her dad and spoke at 5 Women’s Conferences in the U.S.

Philippines
Debby and her dad, Pastor Charley Elwell, held a pastor’s seminar, taught in a Bible school and visited numerous churches and pastors. Their goal was to encourage the pastors and their wives. They also traveled for several days throughout the island of Palawan, going places that many people have been afraid to go. There were stories of terrorists, cobras, and cannibals as they went around, but they continued on, knowing that the people needed the en-couragement they brought. We wish you, our supporters, could have seen the pastors and their wives as smiles would light up their faces. After prayer they would say the joy of the Lord had come and now they could go on in their work for the Lord, having been encouraged.

Women’s Conferences
Debby was privileged to speak at several women’s confer-ences this fall. She found it a great joy to travel to differ-ent areas of the States and see what God is doing among the woman. She is also excited to have had a part in so many women’s lives.

FRED IN WEST AFRICA THIS FALL

Ghana
The Leader’s seminar in Accra was powerful. Pastor Al-bert’s young men are in a big hurry to go out and plant churches. We have to keep asking them to wait so they can receive more training before they can go.

Benin
In October the Bible School moved to a new hall and Fred got to be the first teacher there and dedicate the room. He also organized 5 seminars for February, March and April. Please pray for two special requests. Papa George is one of the few aged pastors in Benin. He has been having ter-rible problems with uncontrollable high blood pressure for the past few years – please pray for health. Also pray for one of our workers in Benin named Herve. He has disap-peared and foul play is suspected.

Mali
Fred took video equipment to Pastor Marc in Bamako, Mali, so that he could be on TV. This is a tremendous opening to be on TV in this 90 percent Muslim country and beyond. Fred also taught the book of Acts and it was a very powerful class.

Senegal
Fred held 2 seminars in Senegal. The first was in Ziguin-chor, a war torn region that has finally come to peace. The pastors were so glad to have us come. The second was in the capitol of Dakar. They said that the Leader’s seminar in Dakar was one of the best ever.

Video Bible Schools
Fred took 6 Video Bible Schools with him to Africa to be-gin 6 new schools. 1 each for Ghana and Ivory Coast, 3 for Benin and the last was for Mali, for pastor Pedro. Some of the pastors had been waiting for over a year to have the Videos and player. Fred’s brother, Robert, is helping us by coping the DVD Video Bible Schools.

Projects
Perhaps you don’t realize all the different ministries we are involved in. We are involved in Bible Schools, Video Bible Schools, Leader’s Seminars and Women’s Seminars. We are also involved in an Orphanage in Benin and Girl’s home in Ivory Coast.
Working with planting village churches, we need to help the pastors with transportation. We just bought a dug-out canoe to help a village church planter get around. We need to help buy about 36 small Motorcycles for these pastors so that they can plant and lead more churches. Each one will cost around $1,000. That’s 2 motorcycles a month for the next 18 months that we need to help buy. Would you or your church like to speed the gospel to un-reached villages by sponsoring a motorcycle for a pastor? Please contact us if you would like to help or if you would like to know more.

Prayer Needs
1) We need to pay off thousands of dollars of debt from 2005 and at least $1,000 more support each month.
2) After tests, the doctor says Fred has a cyst growing on his left kidney. Pray for it to dissolve and go away.
